Greater Brockport Development Corporation Announces Line-up

For its 2013 Free Summer Serenades Concerts on the Canal

(BROCKPORT, N.Y.; June 24, 2013) – Once again this year, the Greater Brockport Development Corporation (GBDC) is hosting the Summer Serenades, a series of free, weekly outdoor concerts Thursday evenings throughout July and August at the Canalfront Welcome Center on the historic Erie Canal, 11 Water Street, Brockport.

"This year's line-up features a wide-range of musical styles, including country, rock, blues, folk and even a Beatles revival," said Gary Skoog, former president and ex-officio member of the GBDC Board of Directors. "Because of the diverse nature of the acts scheduled to perform, there's sure to be something to suit everyone's musical tastes."

The following is the line-up for the 2013 Summer Serenades concert series:

Date Time Artists/Bands
July 11 7 p.m. High Maintenance with Julie Dunlop (Contemporary Country)
July 18 7 p.m. Bill Hullfish and the Golden Eagle String Band (from jazz and bluegrass to folk and big band)
July 25 7 p.m. Brockport High School's Blue Notes Jazz Ensemble
August 1 6:30 p.m. Greg Turner and Friends
August 8 6:30 p.m. Mark Ketchum and Smooth Groove (Jazz)
August 15 6:30 p.m. Bruce Jackson and 8 Days a Week (Beatles Revival)
August 22 6:30 p.m. The Bob Sneider Trio (Jazz)
August 29 6:30 p.m. Tom Mahoney's Grand Canyon Rescue Episode (unique blend of acoustic-electric Americana)

Unlike previous years when each concert started at 7 p.m., this year will see a change with only July performances scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. while those in August will get underway at 6:30 p.m. Organizers say this will help insure that there is still some daylight left when the August concerts end. As always, the Summer Serenades are family-oriented events and, as such, smoking and alcohol are prohibited.

"The Greater Brockport Development Corporation is proud to be able to host the Summer Serenades concert series again this year," said GBDC President Jack Kinnicutt. "We feel this is a great way to help add to the outstanding quality of life that exists in Greater Brockport while, at the same time, attracting people to downtown and drawing attention to the wonderful resource that is the Erie Canal."

“We would not be able to host this annual event were it not for the support of our sponsors,” Skoog added.

Those whose donations make the Summer Serenades possible are the Brockport Merchants Association, Crosby's Food Marts, Danielle Windus-Cook Properties, Edward Jones & Co. (Becky Gillette), Express Mart, Greater Brockport Chamber of Commerce, Greater Brockport Development Corp., Northside Service Center, Pro-Brockport, Sunnking, Brockport Wegman's Food Pharmacy, and the Village of Brockport Mayor and Trustees.
